Gidel FPGA Frame Grabbers for High-Speed Machine Vision
with Inline/On-the-Fly FPGA Image Processing

Gidel FPGA frame grabbers and embedded vision systems from Gidel deliver real-time image acquisition, deterministic low-latency processing, and ultra-high bandwidth performance for machine vision applications. By offloading image processing, compression, and data handling directly on FPGA hardware, these systems reduce CPU load, improve throughput, and enable scalable multi-camera system solutions. They are available from ready-to-use frame grabbers to highly customized FPGA image processing solutions.

Gidel FPGA-based frame grabbers that support high-speed Camera Link, CoaXPress (CXP), and GigE interfaces. These boards enable inline / on-the-fly FPGA image processing and provide acquisition bandwidths from 5 Gb/s up to 400 Gb/s, depending on the specific configuration and interface used.

How are Gidel FPGA frame grabbers different from traditional frame grabbers?

Unlike traditional frame grabbers, Gidel FPGA frame grabbers are built on a flexible FPGA architecture that includes inline / on-the-fly processing, including compression (JPEG, Lossless, Quality+), HDR correction, and custom algorithm implementation – features that set them apart from traditional frame grabbers including:

  • On-board FPGA processing vs host-only processing → eliminates CPU bottlenecks and reduces latency
  • Deterministic real-time performance vs variable timing → ensures consistent, repeatable inspection
  • Inline image processing on FPGA vs post-processing on PC → enables true real-time decision making
  • Hardware-level parallel processing vs sequential CPU/GPU tasks → delivers higher throughput
  • Integrated acquisition + processing vs separate systems → reduces system complexity and cost

Powered by Gidel’s InfiniVision architecture, these systems can scale to support 100+ synchronized cameras (depending on the interface and configuration), providing a unified, deterministic platform for complex multi-camera vision systems.
